How to Access Mountain Rwenzori National Park

By Plane

 Most visitors will land at Entebbe International Airport, located near Kampala, the capital of ‘Uganda. You can take a domestic flight to Kasese airport, which is the closest airport to the park. The flight takes about 1 hour from Kasese, it takes about 15 hours by car to reach the park.

By Road

The journey from Kampala to Kasese is about 375 kilometers (233 miles) and takes 6 to 7 hours of travel.

The most direct route is through Fort Portal along the Kampala-Mubende-Fort Portal road, which is a scenic drive with views of tea plantations, crater lakes and the Rwenzori Mountains.

From Kasese to the park, you can take a private vehicle or hire a taxi to get to the main park gate in Nyakalengija, about 17 kilometers (105 miles) from Kasese town.

 Public transport

Public buses and matatus (shared minibusses) run regularly from Kampala to Kasese. This option is more economical, but less comfortable than a private car. From Kasese, you will need to hire a private vehicle or taxi to get to the park
