Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be greeted by a representative from our team, who will provide you with an overview of your upcoming gorilla trekking adventure. Following a warm welcome, you’ll be transferred to your accommodation in Kigali, where you will check into either the Onomo Hotel for a mid-range experience or the luxurious Serena Kigali.

Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital. The city boasts a range of cultural and historical sites, including the Kigali Genocide Memorial and local markets where you can sample Rwandan cuisine and purchase souvenirs. Alternatively, you can unwind at your hotel, enjoying the amenities and preparing for the exciting days ahead.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After a hearty breakfast at your hotel, we will depart early for Volcanoes National Park, renowned for its population of endangered mountain gorillas. Upon arrival at the park headquarters, you will receive a comprehensive briefing from the park rangers. This briefing covers the safety protocols and guidelines for interacting with the gorillas, ensuring a respectful and safe encounter.

You will be assigned to a gorilla group and set off on your trek through the dense, mist-shrouded forest. Accompanied by experienced trackers, you will navigate rugged trails, cross streams, and climb slopes as you make your way to the gorilla family. The trek can be physically demanding but is immensely rewarding. Once you locate the gorillas, you will have an unforgettable hour to observe their natural behavior, including their social interactions and playful antics. Following the trek, return to your lodge for a leisurely lunch. In the afternoon, you can enhance your cultural experience by visiting the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village. This village offers insights into traditional Rwandan lifestyles through performances, crafts, and demonstrations.

Dinner and your overnight stay will be at your chosen lodge—Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge for a mid-range experience or the opulent Bisate Lodge for a luxury stay. Both lodges offer comfort and relaxation, with spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes.
