Day 1: Journey to Lake Mburo National Park

Begin your adventure with a drive to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah park covering 370 square kilometers. This park is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including zebras, impalas, elands, buffalos, waterbucks, topis, and reedbucks. Keep an eye out for Nubian giraffes, which were relocated from Murchison Falls National Park, as well as the iconic Ankole long-horned cows that add to the park’s charm.

Upon arrival, check into Mpogo Safari Lodge, where you will enjoy a delightful lunch. In the afternoon, set out on a game drive through the park’s varied landscapes. This drive offers a great opportunity to spot wildlife against the backdrop of stunning acacia and cactus trees, particularly during the golden hour when the sunset paints the sky. Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Adventure in Bwindi

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette and safety. Equipped with sturdy hiking boots and a camera, you’ll be guided into the forest to track the elusive mountain gorillas. This trek can range from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location.

Meeting the gorillas is a profound experience, as you observe these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Each encounter is unique, and the experience is often described as magical. After the trek, you may choose to partake in an optional nature walk to explore the local waterfalls and interact with the Batwa pygmies, who will share their rich cultural heritage and traditional practices.

This is also an opportunity for last-minute shopping for souvenirs and African crafts.
