Day 1: Arrival in Uganda, Transfer to Kibale National Park and Bigodi Nature Walk – 5 Days Uganda Safari Tour

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our professional safari guide will welcome you to Uganda and brief you about the journey ahead. If you already spent the previous night in Kampala or Entebbe, your guide will collect you from your hotel after breakfast.

You will then begin the scenic drive to Kibale National Park in western Uganda. The journey takes you through busy towns, green countryside, tea plantations, and traditional villages. You will stop for lunch along the way before continuing toward Fort Portal, a beautiful tourism city surrounded by rolling hills and crater lakes.

After arriving in the Kibale area, you will check in at your lodge and prepare for an afternoon nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. A local guide will lead you along forest paths, raised wooden walkways, and community farmland. Bigodi supports several primate species, including black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. However, sightings depend on their natural movements.

The sanctuary also attracts many forest and wetland birds. You may spot the great blue turaco, hornbills, kingfishers, and other colorful species. Besides wildlife, the walk offers a chance to learn how local communities protect the wetland and benefit from responsible tourism.

After the experience, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – 5 Days Uganda Safari Tour

After an early breakfast, your guide will transfer you to the chimpanzee trekking information center in Kibale National Park. Here, park rangers will explain the trekking rules, forest conditions, and safety guidelines. You will then enter the rainforest with an experienced ranger and begin searching for a habituated chimpanzee community.

Kibale Forest contains one of Africa’s richest primate populations. As you walk beneath the thick forest canopy, your ranger will help you identify animal calls, tracks, plants, and signs of chimpanzee activity. You may hear the chimpanzees before you see them because their loud calls often travel far through the forest.

Once you find the chimpanzees, you will normally spend up to one hour observing them, subject to the conditions of your trekking permit. During this time, you may watch them feed, rest, climb trees, groom one another, or move across the forest floor. You might also encounter other primates and several forest bird species during the trek.

After leaving the forest, you will return to the lodge or visit a nearby restaurant for lunch. You will then travel south toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive offers beautiful views of crater lakes, farmlands, and the distant Rwenzori Mountains when the weather remains clear.

After checking in at your lodge, you will head into the park for an evening game drive. This first wildlife experience may reveal elephants, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks, and several antelope species. Lions and leopards also live in the park, although sightings can never be guaranteed.

You will return to the lodge after sunset for dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Bwindi via the Ishasha Sector – 5 Days Uganda Safari Tour

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before setting out for a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Wildlife often becomes more active during the cooler hours of the morning, which makes this a rewarding time to explore the park.

Your safari guide will drive through the Kasenyi Plains and other wildlife-rich areas while looking for elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, warthogs, waterbucks, and other animals. You may also see lions searching for prey or resting in the open grassland. If you are fortunate, you could spot a leopard, spotted hyena, or another less common predator.

Queen Elizabeth National Park also supports a remarkable variety of birdlife. Eagles, vultures, storks, lapwings, and several savannah birds may appear during the drive. Your guide will select suitable routes based on recent wildlife movements and the day’s road conditions.

After the game drive, you will continue toward the southern Ishasha Sector. This remote part of Queen Elizabeth National Park features open plains, fig trees, and acacia woodland. Ishasha has become famous for its tree-climbing lions, which sometimes rest on large fig-tree branches. However, these lions move freely, so sightings depend on luck, weather, and their location that day.

You will stop for lunch during the journey and later leave Queen Elizabeth National Park for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The road passes through rural communities, hills, plantations, and thickening forest scenery.

Upon arrival, you will check in at your lodge near the assigned gorilla trekking sector. Spend the evening relaxing, prepare your trekking equipment, and listen to your guide’s briefing for the following morning.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi – 5 Days Uganda Safari Tour

After an early breakfast, your guide will transfer you to the Bwindi park office for registration and a pre-trek briefing. Park rangers will explain how to behave near the gorillas, what to expect inside the forest, and how to protect both visitors and wildlife.

You will join a small trekking group and enter Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with professional ranger guides and trackers. The trek may involve steep slopes, muddy trails, tangled vegetation, and uneven ground. Its length varies because mountain gorillas move freely through the forest. A reasonable level of fitness, sturdy walking shoes, long trousers, gardening gloves, rain protection, drinking water, and a packed lunch will help you remain comfortable.

When the trackers locate the assigned gorilla family, you will normally receive up to one hour with the gorillas, according to the terms of a standard trekking permit. You may observe them feeding, resting, grooming, or moving through the vegetation. Keep a respectful distance, follow every ranger instruction, and avoid flash photography.

After this unforgettable encounter, you will walk back to the park office and receive recognition for completing the trek. Porters are available at the trailhead and can help carry your bag while also providing valuable support during difficult sections of the hike.

Later, you will travel through the terraced hills of southwestern Uganda to Lake Bunyonyi. The lake lies between steep green hills and contains many small islands. After checking in at your lodge, you will take a guided canoe ride, depending on your arrival time and the weather. The experience offers peaceful views of the islands, surrounding farms, and local communities.

You will return to the lodge for dinner and rest beside the lake.

Day 5: Lake Bunyonyi Relaxation and Transfer to Entebbe via the Equator

Begin the final morning of your safari with breakfast overlooking the calm waters and green hills of Lake Bunyonyi. Depending on the departure schedule, you may enjoy a short period of relaxation at the lodge, take photographs, watch birds, or admire the islands from the lakeshore.

After checking out, you will begin the return journey to Entebbe. The drive crosses the scenic countryside of southwestern and central Uganda, passing cultivated hills, roadside markets, cattle farms, small towns, and local communities. Your guide will make suitable stops for comfort and lunch during the journey.

You will also stop at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe. Here, you can stand in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, take memorable photographs beside the Equator monument, and browse nearby craft shops for locally made souvenirs. Your guide can also explain the geographical importance of the Equator and help you make the most of the stop.

Afterward, you will continue to Kampala or Entebbe. Your guide will drop you at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport, depending on your travel plans.
