Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and Transfer to Your Hotel

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, a representative from Giant Holiday Safaris will welcome you to Uganda. After clearing immigration and collecting your luggage, you will meet your professional safari guide. Your guide will brief you about the safari before transferring you to your hotel in Entebbe.

Depending on your arrival time, you may relax at the hotel or explore nearby attractions. Optional activities include visiting the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, exploring the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre, or taking a peaceful walk along the shores of Lake Victoria. You may also spend the rest of the day relaxing and recovering from your international flight.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park and Bigodi Nature Walk

After breakfast, you will leave Entebbe and begin your scenic journey to Kibale National Park in western Uganda. The drive takes you through busy towns, traditional villages, tea plantations, and Uganda’s beautiful countryside.

You will stop for lunch along the way before continuing to the Kibale region. As you approach the park, you will enjoy views of rolling hills, crater lakes, tropical forests, and large tea estates.

After arriving and checking into your lodge, you will visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided nature walk. This community-managed conservation area provides an excellent opportunity to see monkeys, birds, butterflies, and wetland plants. Possible primate sightings include red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys.

The walk also allows you to learn about local conservation and how tourism supports communities living near Kibale Forest. After the experience, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for registration and a chimpanzee trekking briefing. An experienced ranger will explain the forest rules, safety guidelines, and what to expect during the activity.

You will then enter Kibale Forest in search of a habituated chimpanzee community. The trek may take several hours, depending on the chimpanzees’ location and movement. Along the way, your ranger will help you identify different trees, birds, butterflies, and primates.

Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will spend the permitted time watching them in their natural environment. You may see them feeding, grooming, resting, climbing trees, or communicating with each other.

After the trek, you will return to the lodge or a selected restaurant for lunch. You will then drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, passing through attractive crater landscapes. On a clear day, you may enjoy views of the Rwenzori Mountains.

After checking into your lodge, you will take an evening game drive. Look out for elephants, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks, and other wildlife. After sunset, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Bwindi via the Ishasha Sector

You will begin the day with an early breakfast before heading into Queen Elizabeth National Park for a morning game drive. Wildlife is often more active during the cooler morning hours, creating excellent opportunities for viewing and photography.

Your guide will explore productive wildlife areas while searching for lions, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs, waterbucks, bushbucks, hyenas, and several bird species.

After the game drive, you will continue south toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha Sector. Ishasha is famous for its tree-climbing lions, which sometimes rest on the branches of large fig trees. Although wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, your guide will search carefully for these unusual lions. You may also see topis, elephants, buffaloes, and Uganda kobs.

Following lunch along the way, you will continue through rural communities, rolling hills, farms, and forested landscapes. Upon arrival in Bwindi, you will check into your lodge and receive information about the following day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After an early breakfast, you will collect your packed lunch and transfer to the Bwindi park headquarters. You will meet the ranger guides for registration and a detailed briefing about gorilla trekking rules and forest safety.

You will then enter Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. The length and difficulty of the trek depend on the gorillas’ location, the terrain, and weather conditions. Bwindi’s landscape includes thick vegetation, streams, steep slopes, and uneven forest trails. You may hire a porter to carry your daypack and provide support along challenging sections of the trail.

Once you locate the gorillas, you will spend the permitted viewing time observing them in their natural habitat. You may watch a silverback protecting the family while the younger gorillas feed, play, climb, and interact.

After the experience, you will return to the park headquarters, receive your gorilla trekking certificate, and meet your safari guide. You will then drive to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Uganda’s most beautiful lakes.

Depending on your arrival time, you will enjoy a canoe ride across the lake’s calm waters. A local guide may share stories about the islands, surrounding communities, and the cultural importance of the lake. You will then proceed to your lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 6: Lake Bunyonyi Relaxation and Transfer to Entebbe via the Equator

Wake up to the peaceful atmosphere of Lake Bunyonyi and enjoy breakfast while overlooking its green islands and terraced hills. Depending on your departure schedule, you may relax at the lodge, take photographs, or enjoy a short walk around the surrounding area.

You will then begin your return journey to Entebbe. The drive takes you through the beautiful countryside of southwestern and central Uganda. Along the way, you will pass farms, cattle-grazing areas, roadside markets, traditional homesteads, and small towns.

You will stop at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe, where you can stand in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. You will have time to take photographs, browse the local craft shops, and have lunch before continuing to Entebbe.

Upon arrival, your guide will transfer you to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight or to a selected hotel if you have arranged an additional night in Uganda. This marks the end of your memorable Uganda primate and wildlife adventure.
