Detailed Itinerary of 12 Days Gorillas and Chimpanzees Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and transfer to lodge

Upon arrival at Entebbe international airport, you will be welcomed by our experienced guide who will drive you to your guesthouse, located just a short drive away. This will give you an opportunity to relax after your flight, you may choose to explore the nearby attractions of Entebbe which offers charming beaches along Lake Victoria and a peaceful start to your journey.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Early in the morning, you will have breakfast and start on the journey to Murchison falls national park through Ziwa rhino sanctuary. After a briefing from your ranger, embark on a walking safari to encounter these magnificent creatures up close, you’ll have lunch in Masindi before proceeding to Murchison Falls National Park. Upon arrive in the evening, enjoy dinner, and overnight stay at Heritage safari lodge.

Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Safari on the Nile in Murchison Falls

Wake up early in the morning, enjoy your breakfast before setting off for the game drive across the northern bank of the Nile River. Among the many animals you may observe include elephants, lions, giraffes, and leopards. After a fulfilling morning safari in the park, you will have a lunch break before embarking on a boat cruise safari along the Victoria Nile. This afternoon cruise will take you to the spectacular Murchison Falls, where you’ll hike to the top for panoramic views of the cascading waters. After the cruise you will return to Heritage safari Lodge for a relaxing evening, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 & 5: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

On this day you will be transferred from Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest National Park, a journey through lush landscapes and picturesque hills. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and prepare for a memorable chimpanzee tracking experience. The trek starts early, with a hike that can last between two to three hours, depending on the location of the chimps. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and then visit Bigodi Swamp for a chance to see additional wildlife, including monkeys and various bird species.

Day 6 & 7: Boat Cruise along the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a haven of wildlife and natural beauty. The park’s rich biodiversity is evident as you embark on a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, which links Lake Edward and Lake George. The boat ride offers views of numerous bird species and large mammals, including hippos and elephants. In the evening, stay at Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge and enjoy a campfire drink. The following morning, join the resident research team for a unique lion tracking experience, enhancing your safari adventure.

Day 8 & 9: Transfer to Bwindi National Park and Gorilla Tracking

The highlight of your trip awaits with gorilla tracking. After a briefing, you’ll be assigned a group and guide, and the tracking begins. Day 10 & 11: Game drive, Campfire and Guided walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park

Drive to Lake Mburo National Park, a journey of approximately four to five hours. Enjoy an afternoon game drive to discover the park’s abundant wildlife, including zebras and Rothschild’s giraffes. In the evening, relax by the campfire.
